the other night i was driving home from school. it was dark, i had a lot on my mind. that's when it happened. a falling star.
{not my photo, i was driving and figured it would be safer for me to keep doing that then trying to capture the star. you are welcome fellow drivers, and mom. this photo was found here}
anyhow... it was gorgeous and for a second it was like time stood still. i thought of all of the things i could wish for, but didn't mention any of them aloud for fear if i did i'd jinx it all somehow. {that doesn't happen by the way, the whole jinxing yourself thing} see, i always wish for the same thing when a chance for wishing happens, seeing 11:11 on the clock, throwing a penny into a wishing well, seeing the first star of the night etc. the other night after i almost wished that same wish on the falling star, i wondered for a while. if after almost 20 years of wishing the same wish, that maybe i needed to change my wish? maybe i'm wishing for the wrong thing? you can probably guess what my usual wish is... but it might be time i find a new one. i hope the falling star doesn't have a wishing expiration. this one might take me a while. :)
to new wishes...
**update...
that didn't take as long as i thought. after my original post, i was browsing pinterest, part of my usual pre bedtime routine and came across this quote...
how's that for an answer to my question for a new wish. maybe it isn't a wish i need at all. now when a chance for wishing happens, instead of a wish i'll remember this and take a second to be grateful.
to gratitude...
Beautiful thoughts, Jeana. And, I'm glad you kept driving instead of taking pictures. :)
