dating in '09

no, i haven't been on one, nor asked on one... but i have made some observations...

- men don't plan something and call up a woman and ask her out it goes something more like this
him: hey whats up?
you: nothing really
him: wanna do something?
you: sure, what do you have in mind?
him: i dunno, what do you want to do?
and what is even sadder than that is that, if you are me, if that happened i'd be a little excited. can't even recall the last time i was asked out on a date er to "uh i dunno, what do you want to do"
- as evidence from the new movie out "he's just not that into you" guys/girls refuse to communicate and actually tell each other how they feel, but instead it has become some kind of guessing game. if he does this he likes you, but if you respond too quickly to his last email he is going to freak out and think you are too interested... etc. ridiculous!
- men/women don't find someone they are interested in and focus on dating them to see if they are compatible. instead they insist on dating every one possible at all times in the event that there is someone better (how will you know that the someone you are out with right now isn't better if you don't give them the time of day?) has no one learned the greener pastures lesson yet? it's been around for ages!
- romance? chivalry? dead!

for those of you that dated and got married before all of the above became the crazy norm, i envy you!
for those of you who are single and feel that dating today is a great big joke i empathize with you.
for those of you who adhere whole heartedly to any of the practices above, shame on you. and go listen to the many, many talks on dating from the church leaders in the last couple of years.

yup - another glimpse of life through my eyes

*stepping down off soap box*
